Who wants Dominoes?

Well, you got’em! The first to fall was Jim Mora getting fired as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Before the door could even hit him in the butt, the Seahawks were on the phone with Pete Carroll. Captain Cool said yes and left the USC Trojans, the college football mecca of this decade, in his dust. After overtures to Oregon State’s Mike Riley and the Jacksonville Jaguar’s Jack Del Rio, the Trojans have settled, and I do mean settled, for Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin.
As of about midnight last night, the campus of the University of Tennessee became a reenactment of the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s with Lane Kiffin the only McCoy left to shoot. The air was filled with snuff spat in such anger that some kids thought it was raining.
Kiffin’s departure tips the next domino and creates a vacuum in SEC recruiting just three weeks from signing day. This could be great for Georgia if we can get our stuff together. There were several of those commits to UT that had Georgia high on their list.
The first replacement for Kiffin that came to mind was Peewee Herman, but I think I dreamed that. The next name was Duke’s David Cutcliffe. I’m sure that would be fine with Duke because Cutcliffe has been there two years, more than could be reasonably expected…..insert crickets chirping….I have always felt that Cutcliffe was the key to much of the Vols success in the 90’s.
It would be refreshing and just freakin’ awesome if he were to stay at Duke and continue building a competitive program there. I for one will not be holding my breath but, whether it’s him or another coach yet un-named, the dominoes will continue to fall.
Oh yeah, and all the kids can do is watch.

Just saw on georgiadogs.com that we have hired Grantham. I don’t believe all these people who want Richt gone. No wonder there are no more JoePA’s and Bowden’s in football anymore. People seem to have a what have you done yesterday mentality. Richt has amassed amazing records in his time here and will continue to do so. We will win a national championship. It is people who are calling for his head that helped make it harder to find a DC. If we aren’t happy with Richt why should they feel GA is a good place to come. Go DAWGS

Unbelievable! Getting dizzy yet from coaching changes. Latest news today on sports radio, is that Will Muschamp has the “keys to the Texas kingdom” when Mack Brown steps down. He’s not at all interested in the Tennessee job, however word is that he would forgo waiting another four to six years for this premium job, if offered the GEORGIA HEAD COACHING POSITION, AND WOULD PROBABLY BE INTERVIEWING AGAINST KIRBY SMART. So down the road I think things will get better at Georgia. Next year will be Richts last chance to set it right. Hope everything works out best for the long term of the program. Don’t know why the A.D. at Tennessee still has a job, because of his very bad decision and poor choices look what happened , and he could have gotten Cincinattis Riley at the time! Notre Dame should send a thank you card to Hamilton, temporary A.D. at Tennessee for Coach Riley.

Listening to my stand by Sirrius radio, love this show, talked all day about this stuff. Cutcliff figures in strong for the U.T. position. I was surprised all the sport guys were unamanious in that the three amigos which recently got fired are all radioactive, or not hireable- inclucing ex Kansas, and TCU coaches. What surprised me was they all said Richt would not be at Ga. very long. He has really screwed up this thing (their opinion) which is usually right. The three guys Richt asked to take the job aka Alabama -Va.Tech- forgot the other, had absolutely no reason to leave, and Richt should have known this, and since it has all been disclosed, looks even worse about his mgt. skills, and thought process. Unamaniously they all said the guy at Alabama Richt tried to get for D.C., will eventually , probably not long in the future replace Richt as the head coach. Thought this was very interesting stuff. That might not be bad for Georgia! Right now we are no better off than many of these schools. Also unamanious among these sport commentators was that the top two wasters of talent in college football are Les Miles at L.S.U. and Richt at Georgia. Interesting stuff! Pete Carol has a 99% chance of having a worse record in the pros based on all college coaches who have made the switch, but who cares at $8million per year and a much easier job than coaching at the college level. This will be so interesting next 2years.

Willie Martinez to be HC at UT – now that’s a fantasy for ya!

Kiffin hasn’t even proven that he can coach yet. He is well under 500 as a head coach.
UT should hire Al Golden or Kevin Sumlin. Either will be better than Kiffin.

The president of UT should just clean out the Athletic Department. Hamilton should be banned from the State. They are about to lose every recruit in the world anyway, so why rush a hire? But it’s a business and this is an epic fail.
I for one am sad to see Kiffin go. Sure, he was a formidable recruiter…but sooner or later his downfall was going to happen…and we all know it’s alot more fun to watch an SEC team implode than a PAC-10 one. I guess we’ll just have to enjoy the inevitable mushroom cloud over L.A. from afar.

We do not want David Cutcliffe back at Tenn as we really could not beat his defenses.

I agree that we do not want Cutcliffe but, he is an offensive guy that we couldn’t stop. John Chavis was the defensive guy we couldn’t beat back then.

When I heard this last night, my initial reaction was to laugh, but I just couldn’t do it. I mean, I know it’s Tennessee and that as a loyal Dawg I should find some humor in their displeasure, but I find myself feeling sorry for them.
Something tells me that one of the dominoes yet to fall has to do more with still unknown recruiting violations at UT. I have said it from the beginning, there’s just something about Kiffin that screams loose cannon to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if some stuff comes out that he left for his successor to deal with.
Cutcliffe to Tennessee “scares” me. When he was there, they “owned” us.

I really feel for those kids. It shows his character they way he handled this. He treated them horribly. I hope recruits all over the country watch and realize his word is worthless. I wonder if Coach O’s calls to Tennessee verbal commits trying to get them to come to USC on a TN cell phone were a violation of NCAA rules.
