Quarterback Controversy Averted

georgiahelmet

As of this writing 138 Georgia Bulldogs fans have voted on the RTK poll regarding the 2010 quarterback situation. I am happy to report that all is well. Aaron Murray has won in a landslide receiving 78% of the vote.  Zach Mettenberger was second with 10%, Logan Gray had 7% and true freshman Hutson Mason just 4%.

The official tally has been hermetically sealed and sent to Funk and Wagnall for verification. You old Georgia Dawgs will know what I’m talking about. Once approved, the results will be forwarded to Coach Mark Richt so he can make the necessary adjustments to the practice schedule.

Since we have had such an over-whelming response, there will be no need for QB’s to split reps evenly. Thanks to all who voted.

Looks like Mett has taken himself out of the race with his alcohol related arrest. Murray may have been the guy but now he won’t get the same level of competition from now till fall. That hurts.

I was hoping that Gray would move to WR ASAP this spring, i.e., as soon as the QB competition between Murray and Mett was off and running. Why? Because we need Gray at WR, and we need him badly. We have Zero chance of getting through the season with 6 WR’s, and that includes the signee. No way all 6 guys stay healthy all year, and we’re still short even if they did.

Now, that move may be more difficult, if it happens at all.

Well, Mett just got busted getting his drink on in south Georgia, so he will probably be out of the mix.

Mettenberger getting busted for underage alcohol will also help Richt make the necessary adjustments in the practice schedule.

Tough to be “The Man” when you start the season with a 2-game suspension.

Well this weekend Mettenberger made a bonehead decision that probably supports your poll.

Mettenberger arrested on 5 misdemeanors over the weekend? I would imagine this might not bode so well for his chances at being named the starter, regardless of performance. Of course we need to let the process play out, but this is not exactly the kind of behavior you would like to see in the potential leader of your offense.

  6. Do you think the results of your poll led Zach to the bottle? I kid, I kid. http://tinyurl.com/yffo2aw

  7. LOL, I sense your sarcasm. In all seriousness, I sure wish we didn’t have these brand new quarterbacks splitting reps three ways. One would think that one of the candidates leads the pack at this point.
